According to Yanji Chaoyangchuan International Airport, Air Koryo plans to operate scheduled flights to Yanji from Pyongyang from May 2019 to October 2019. In 2020, it plans year-round scheduled flights from Pyongyang to Yanji.
A spokesman of Jilin Airport Group on behalf of the Yanji international airport said that the airport is discussing, in addition, the possibilities with Air Koryo on extending the Yanji - Pyongyang flight to Jeju and Vladivostok in order to boost tourist air traffic flows among China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia.
Air Koryo first operated charter passenger flights to Yanji from Pyongyang from 2012 to 2015. Besides Yanji, it is monitoring the possibility of opening scheduled flights to Incheon from Pyongyang.
Current international route destinations of Air Koryo include Beijing Capital, Shanghai-Pudong, Dalian, Vladivostok and Moscow.
