Myanmar Airways International launches flight to Chiangmai on 3 April 2024

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) launches direct scheduled flight from Yangon to Chiangmai on 3 April 2024 with its Embraer E190LR aircraft.

On 3 April 2024, MAI flight 8M370 departs from Yangon for Chiangmai at 12.15 pm, touches down in Chiangmai at 1.45 pm before leaving Chiangmai for Yangon at 2.45 pm and arriving in Yangon at 3.15 pm under flight 8M371.

MAI flies to Chiangmai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

China Express launches flight to Kansai on 31 March 2024

According to AeroRoutes, China Express begins direct scheduled flight to Osaka Kansai from Chongqing on 31 March 2024. However, the airline has not detailed the flight frequency which is said to be four times a week.

According to AeroRoutes' information, China Express flight G54731 departs from Chongqing for Kansai at 2.30 pm, touches down in Kansai at 6.20 pm before leaving Kansai for Chongqing at 8 pm and landing in Chongqing by 12.30 am under flight G54732.

China Express' current active international route is to Don Mueang from Chongqing. The last flight of this route during the winter season falls on 29 March 2024 as April tickets are yet to be available for purchase while the airline has suspended flights to Vientiane until further notice.


Thai Lion Air launches flight to Penang from Don Mueang on 5 April 2024

Thai Lion Air launches direct scheduled flight from Don Mueang to Penang with its B737-800 aircraft on 5 April 2024.

On 5 April 2024, Thai Lion Air flight SL132 departs from Don Mueang for Penang at 12.10 pm, touches down in Penang at 3 pm before leaving Penang for Don Mueang at 4 pm and arriving in Don Mueang at 4.50 pm under flight SL133.

Thai Lion Air flies to Penang on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

GX Airlines launches flight from Suvarnabhumi to Yulin on 25 February 2024

GX Airlines, that currently operates scheduled flight to Suvarnabhumi from Nanning, has stationed its Airbus A320 in Suvarnabhumi Airport for inaugurating its first scheduled flight from Suvarnabhumi to Yulin, the northernmost prefective-level city of Shaanxi Province, on 25 February 2024.

On 25 February 2024, according to schedules, GX Airlines flight GX8998 departs from Suvarnabhumi for Yulin at 10.50 am, touches down in Yulin at 4.05 pm before leaving Yulin for Suvarnabhumi at 5.05 pm and arriving in Suvarnabhumi at 8.20 pm under flight GX8997.

GX Airlines' inaugural flight to Yulin actually takes off at 10.45 am and arrives in Yulin at 3.35 pm on 25 February.

The Nanning-based Guangxi airline flies between Suvarnabhumi and Yulin on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Suvarnabhumi is the first international destination of Yulin Yuyang Airport. Yulin is known for Lake Hongjiannao, the important breeding habitat for relict gull, a vulnerable gull species classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

To include the flight to Yulin on GX Airlines' Thailand route network, GX Airlines has adjusted its Nanning flight schedules, with flight GX8907 taking off from Nanning for Suvarnabhumi at 8.40 am and landing in Suvarnabhumi at 9.50 am while GX8908 leaves for Nanning at 9.20 pm and arriving in Nanning at 12.30 am on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Friday flight timing from Nanning to Suvarnabhumi remains unchanged.

Lanmei Airlines suspends flights

Lanmei Airlines, the smallest airline of Cambodia, has suspended its only Airbus A320 flights to Suvarnabhumi, KLIA, Nanning and Guangzhou. The airline did not state the reason for suspending the flights after the last flight to Suvarnabhumi on 12 February 2024. Its flights through March 2024 cannot be booked.

Air Japan postpones Incheon inaugural flight on 22 February 2024, Suvarnabhumi flights cancelled

The long-awaited inaugural flight to Incheon from Narita has been cancelled by Air Japan.

Air Japan's originally-planned inaugural flight to Incheon, NQ21, on 22 February 2024 has been postponed due to 787-8 equipment malfunction. As a result, the subsequent flight to Suvarnabhumi (NQ1) on 22 February has also been cancelled.

Reactions to the suspended flights are strong. 

Netizen Jun Natchada remarks, "Flight from Bangkok-Narita was cancelled last night (21 February 2024). What's the airline responsibility?" 

Netizen Noppadol Phanpanyalert comments, "Many Thai passenger very disappointed about this airline, we hope that management if this airline will find the way to resolve this problem in longterm. Otherwise no thai tourist will use this airline again".

Norasigh Kanivhaporn doubts, "Is it true that you only have 1 airplane of BKK-NRT operation, so if anything happen with this airplane, then the flight to be cancel?"

Another netizen Beebe Suwanee says, " We no longer trust your airline. We need money to book our return flight. We have reseved a trip for March 2024. Can we do it?"

24 February 2024 is then planned to be Air Japan's inaugural flight to Incheon with flight NQ21 departing from Narita to Incheon at 10.55 am and landing in Incheon at 1.30 pm. However, this is subject to the aircraft able to resume normal flight operation.

As for flights to Narita from Changi, Air Japan has not yet allowed Singaporeans to book until further notice. 

Air Japan first launches its international flight to Suvarnabhumi on 9 February 2024.


LOT Polish Airlines runs charter flight to Phuket on Wednesdays

LOT Polish Airlines runs a weekly charter flight to Phuket non-stop from Warsaw. 

LOT departs from Warsaw at 5.35 pm on Wednesdays and touches down in Phuket at 9.11 am on Thursdays according to schedule under flight LO6193. At 1.55 pm, it leaves Phuket for Warsaw and arrives in Warsaw at 8.09 pm under flight LO6194.

LOT flies to Phuket on Wednesdays with its 787-8 Dreamliner. The airline also flies to Suvarnabhumi from Warsaw and Katowice weekly on charter flight basis.

The airline begins non-stop charter flight to Phuket on 29 November 2023.

9air launches flight from Ningbo to Luang Prabang on 24 February 2024

LOT Polish Airlines adds second charter flight to Suvarnabhumi from Warsaw

LOT Polish Airlines has added its second charter flight from Warsaw to Suvarnabhumi with its 787-9 Dreamliner.

Subject to air traffic conditions, LOT flight LO6279 departs every Tuesday from Warsaw at 9.55 pm and touches down in Suvarnabhumi by 2 pm on Wednesdays.

According to schedule, the 787-9 leaves Suvarnabhumi for Warsaw under flight LO6280 at 4.10 pm (scheduled time) and arrives in Warsaw at 9.20 pm.

The second charter flight to Suvarnabhumi from Warsaw debuts on 28 November 2023.

Air Arabia flies daily to Phuket from Sharjah with effect from 20 February 2024. It also flies daily to Suvarnabhumi by increasing its daily frequency to twice daily on 11 June 2024.

According to schedules, Air Arabia flight G9687 leaves Sharjah for Phuket at 12.35 pm, tocuhes down in Phuket at 8.15 am before taking off from Phuket for Sharjah at 8.45 am and arriving in Sharjah at 12.15 pm under flight G9688.

Before 20 February 2024, Air Arabia flies four times a week to Phuket, on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Air Arabia is also increasing its scheduled flights to Suvarnabhumi. Lao Airlines has announced that it is launching non-stop scheduled flight from Vientiane to Phnom Penh on 19 March 2024 with its Airbus A320 aircraft.

On 19 March 2024, Lao Airlines flight QV551 departs from Vientiane for Phnom Penh at 8.30 am, touches down in Phnom Penh at 9.50 am before leaving Phnom Penh for Vientiane at 10.50 am and landing in Vientiane at 12.10 pm under flight QV552.

Double happiness! Changi Airport will not only welcome Air Japan's first official flight to Changi on 26 April 2024, but also the long-awaited entry of Greater Bay Airlines (GBA, in short), Hong Kong's latest budget airline, as one of its new flight operators on the same day.

According to GBA's official web-site, GBA launches daily scheduled flight from Hong Kong to Changi on 26 April 2024 with its B737-800 aircraft.

On 26 April 2024, GBA flight HB257 departs from Hong Kong T1 to Changi at 9.45 am, touches down at Changi T4 at 1.45 pm before leaving Changi T4 for Hong Kong T1 at 2.45 pm and arriving in Hong Kong at 6.45 pm under flight HB258.

The reporter of this news first learns from GBA staff in Suvarnabhumi that the airline plans to announce officially the new route to the press by 1 March 2024 on 26 January 2024 but it is not expected that the airline announces the new route launch instead on 8 February 2024.

Both one-way Hong Kong-Changi fare and Changi-Hong Kong fare start from HK$460.

GBA has taken up the slot at T4 previously allocated to HK Express which suspended flights to Changi in mid-2023.

As of 26 April 2024, GBA flies to seven foreign city airports including Suvarnabhumi, Narita, Kansai, Incheon, Taoyuan and Manila from Hong Kong. It suspended flights to Ho Chi Minh City from 22 February 2024 to concentrate on preparation for the Hong Kong=Changi route sectors.
