According to comprehensive foreign media reports, on 1 November 2023, local time, the Malaysian Aviation Commission announced the suspension of the air service license (ASL) of low-cost airline MYAirline. The Malaysian Aviation Commission requested MYAirline to submit a written statement on 13 October 2023 to explain the reasons for the airline’s sudden suspension of operations.

Image : Researcher's Picture

The Malaysian Aviation Commission stated: "The Commission stated in a statement that it received a written statement from MYAirline on the 27th of last month. After reviewing the written statement, because the airline's statement was not consistent with the requirements, Malaysia Aviation Commission decided to suspend MYAirline’s air services license.”

Image : Researcher's Picture

The executive chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission pointed out that although the commission highly considers revoking MYAirline’s air service license, this may cause the airline to stop paying refunds to affected passengers.

Image : Researcher's Picture

MYAirline was established on 1 November 2021, and was approved to operate by the Malaysian government on 24 January 2022. On 12 October 2023, the airline suddenly suspended operations and flights, affecting an estimated 125,000 passengers.

Air Guilin suspends flights due to ownership dispute with Hainan Airlines

Report, images by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

Images : Researcher's Pictures

Air Guilin has stopped selling tickets due to an ownership dispute between its two major shareholders, Hainan Airlines and Guilin State-Owned Assets Investment, and cancelled all flights.

                                                          Image : Researcher's Picture

Several days ago, Hainan Airlines sent a letter to Air Guilin, notifying them of the termination of services and agreements. On 1 November 2023, there was no answer from the Guilin Airlines 24-hour customer service hotline.

Image : Researcher's Picture

The Guilin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said on 2 November 2023 that the local government had formed a team to sort the issue out, but no further details of a plan of any kind were available.

Image : Researcher's Picture

As the parent company of many small airlines, Hainan Airlines works in partnership with some local governments, including Guilin.

One of the smallest Chinese Communist operators, Air Guilin has a fleet of 10 and has not acquired any new aircraft for over 5 years. It only operated domestic flights in CCP China.

Image : Researcher's Picture

In 2014, Guilin Airlines and Tourism Group was founded in a partnership between Hainan Airlines Group and Guilin State-Owned Assets Investment. Air Guilin took all its crew members and technical staff directly from Hainan Airlines in the early days, along with board members, senior managers and engineers. However, facing a liquidity problem, Hainan Airlines sold shares in several regional carriers, including Air Guilin, in order to continue its operations and leaving Air Guilin to survive on its own.
