MIAT Mongolian Airlines' first 737 MAX 8 will be delivered on 27 January 2019

MIAT Mongolian Airlines has posted a picture of its newest livery on its first 737 MAX 8 on its Facebook (above). 

According to Mongolian News Agency MONTSAME, MIAT's first 737 MAX 8 on long-term lease will be handed over to the airline by Avolon Company in Dublin on 21 January 2019. The aircraft is expected to arrive at the  international airport of Ulaanbaatar on 27 January 2019, according to Mr Batbold, the current CEO of MIAT Mongolian Airlines.

MIAT Mongolian Airlines has a lease order for 2 737 MAX 8 aircraft from Avolon and another 2 737 MAX 8 jets from Air Lease Corporation. Its second 737 MAX aircraft will arrive in Ulaanbaatar in May 2019.

The four 737 MAX aircraft will gradually replace its fleet of 3 B737-800 and 1 B737-700 aircraft. The B737-700 aircraft will be returned to Oman Air later in May 2019.

According to Mr Batbold, the 737 MAX 8 will be used to launch new routes to Guangzhou and Pudong, and resume scheduled flight to Osaka Kansai later in 2019 from Ulaanbaatar. 

Before the new routes are launched, the airline will deploy the new aircraft on existing routes in Asia on a commercial test flight basis.

In Asia, MIAT Mongolian Airlines flies to Beijing Capital, Hong Kong, Incheon, Busan, Narita on a regular basis and to Suvarnabhumi on a seasonal scheduled basis. It has annual chartered flights to Sanya, Singapore, Delhi, Dubai, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
