Vistara's Retrojet recreates Tata Air Services' historic flight on 15 October 2018

According to Vistara - TATA SIA Airlines, its Retrojet, an Airbus A320neo with the historic registration number VT-ATV and its 22nd aircraft, recreates Tata Air Services' historic flight to Mumbai via Ahmedabad on 15 October 2018.

On 15 October 2018, Vistara flight UK1 under VT-ATV departs from Delhi for Ahmedabad at 7.45 am, touches down in Ahmedabad at 9.10 am before leaving Ahmedabad for Mumbai at 9.55 am and arriving in Mumbai at 11.10 am. At 11.50 am, VT-ATV leaves for Delhi from Mumbai under flight UK960. Upon arrival in Delhi at 2.10 pm local time, it changes flight number to UK817 for the commercial flight to Bengaluru at 4.05 pm and to UK818 for the return flight from Bengaluru to Delhi at 7.40 pm.

According to Vistara, 15 October 2018 marks the 86th Anniversary of the launch of TATA Air Services, India's very first airline. Piloted by JRD Tata himself, the historic DC-3 aircraft VT-ATV first flight flew from Karachi to Mumbai via Ahmedabad.





Vistara announced the Retrojet flight passengers are served by air hostesses in specified retro-uniform inspired by the fashion of the 1950s and 1960s. The inflight menu features JRD Tata's favourite dishes, as remembered by senior chiefs at Taj Hotels. These dishes include Cheddar Cheese, Onion Omelette, Herb Roast Chicken, Creme Caramel and many more.

Vistara's Retrojet first arrives in Delhi on 1 September 2018 and inaugurates its first commercial flight to Mumbai on 5 September 2018 to mark 150 years of Tata Group.  The airline said about the Retrojet livery, "The grand livery has received a host of praises and has left all our customers and staff speechless!".
