ITB Asia 2018 exhibitor, Garuda Indonesia, announces that it is launching regular  scheduled flight from the Indonesian city of Tanjung Pandan, the capital of Belitung, to Singapore on 29 October 2018 using its Bombardier CRJ1000 NEXTGEN, an All-Economy Class aircraft with 96 seats.

On 29 October 2018, flight GA848 departs from Tanjung Pandan for Singapore at 2.05 pm local time, touches down in Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 at 4.20 pm before leaving Singapore for Tanjung Pandan at 5.20 pm and arriving in Tanjung Pandan at 5.50 pm local time under flight GA849.

The flight from Tanjung Pandan to Singapore lasts 1 hour 15 minutes while the outbound flight from Singapore to Tanjung Pandan takes 1 hour 30 minutes.

Garuda Indonesia's flights between Tanjung Pandan and Singapore are operated on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To mark the commencement of scheduled flights between Tanjung Pandan and Singapore, promote international awareness of Belitung tourism and air links, Garuda Indonesia is marketing to the public all-in-return fares to Tanjung Pandan from 250 Singapore Dollars. It is valid for booking from 16 October 2018 to 31 January 2019 on its Singapore web-site and its Singapore office for departures between 29 October 2018 and 31 August 2019.

Tour packages are also available for sale at designated travel agencies, while tickets are available at on-line air ticketing portals such as Zuji, Expedia, Ctrip and Trip.

At ITB Asia 2018 held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Garuda Indonesia together with BelitungIsland.com Tour & Event Organizer PT Sahi Anugrah Raya distribute Tanjung Pandan air fare and Belitung tourism flyers under the support of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia at Booth G05 from 17 to 19 October 2018.

From 19 to 21 October 2018, Tanjung Pandan air tickets and Belitung tour packages are marketed and sold to the public at Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair which is held at Suntec City East Atrium.

The new scheduled Tanjung Pandan - Singapore flight route marks the return of Garuda Indonesia's popular CRJ1000 regional airliner after one year. The regional airliner with the commercial name Explore - Jet is first deployed on its inaugural charter flight between the Lake Toba airport of Silangit and Singapore on 28 October 2017 and the service ended in late November 2017.

The Tanjung Pandan - Singapore route was previously served by Sriwijaya Air's B737-800 on a charter basis from 17 December 2017 to 5 January 2018. Due to operational reason, Sriwijaya Air did not initiate scheduled flights to Singapore from Tanjung Pandan although there is a huge market demand for the flights.

Garuda Indonesia will advise the public if the CRJ1000 flight to Tanjung Pandan will have to take off from the re-opened Seletar Airport Passenger Terminal of Singapore in 2019 or a larger Boeing aircraft will be deployed on the route for service from Changi Airport, depending on the market demand.

Garuda Indonesia has served the Singapore travel market for more than 50 years. It marks 70 years of flight operations in December 2019. Besides Tanjung Pandan, it runs regular flights from Singapore to Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar and Kualanamu with Boeing and Airbus aircraft. In February 2018, its Skytrax's Five Star Airline certification was renewed at Singapore Air Show.

Garuda Indonesia's travel trade partner, PT Sahi Anugrah Raya, is the first tour services provider to be established in Belitung in 2006. It first promoted Belitung's beauty to the world in 1992. On 25 March 2000, it launches BelitungIsland.com, the first comprehensive e-library of Belitung tourism information resources, air ticket and tour booking web-site in English and Bahasa Indonesia

Belitung is widely acclaimed as "the Maldives of Indonesia" as it comprises of scenic islands suitable for island-hopping, snorkeling, paddle boarding and commercial aircraft-spotting activities. The islands are located north of Java and along the busy air route to Jakarta. Destinations worth visiting in Belitung include the pristine, clear and beautiful Kaolin Lake, Lutong Island that shapes like a monkey's head, Belitung Museum in Tanjung Pandan, Pulau Kelayang Centre of Turtle Conservation, two gigantic granites named Batu Baginde and the open-pit mine of Kelapa Kampit.

The Tanjung Pandan - Singapore route is Belitung's only international route. Garuda Indonesia, its subsidiary Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, Nam Air and Wings Air fly from Tanjung Pandan to Jakarta.
