Hainan Airlines launches international flight from Taiyuan to Sydney via Haikou on 30 October 2018 using its Airbus A330-800 jet which has 24 Business Class and 278 Economy Class seats.

On 30 October 2018, Hainan Airlines flight HU447 departs from Taiyuan for Sydney via Haikou at 11.30 am, transits in Haikou at 2.40 pm before leaving Haikou for Sydney at 5.40 pm and touching down in Sydney at 6.05 am on 31 October 2018.

The outbound flight, HU448, takes off from Sydney for Haikou at 7.55 am on 31 October, lands in Haikou at 1.55 pm for passengers to alight before proceeding on the return voyage to Taiyuan at 5.30 pm and arriving in Taiyuan at 8.35 pm.

Hainan Airlines flies to Sydney from Taiyuan on Tuesdays and Thursdays and lands in Taiyuan on Wednesdays and Fridays.

According to Hainan Airlines, the A330-800 jet's Business Class seat is a flat-bed seat that can slant 180 degrees while the Economy Class seat can slant 135 degrees. The new flight from Taiyuan allows passengers convenience in transiting in Sydney for onward flights to New Zealand and other cities of the Pacific region while it adds passenger capacity to the airline's existing Haikou - Sydney service.

According to Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, this is the only international flight service operated from the airport since Hainan Airlines suspended Taiyuan - Haikou - Singapore flights in June 2015.
