China Southern launches flight from Yining to Hangzhou via Urumqi using B737-800 aircraft on 29 October 2018.
On 29 October 2018, China Southern flight CZ8431 departs from Yining for Hangzhou via Urumqi at 3.40 pm, transits in Urumqi at 4.55 pm before leaving Urumqi for Hangzhou at 5.55 pm and touching down in Hangzhou at 10.50 pm.
The return flight CZ8432 leaves Hangzhou for Urumqi at 9.05 am on 30 October 2018, transits in Urumqi at 2.25 pm before taking off from Urumqi for Yining at 3.25 pm and arriving in Yining at 4.50 pm.
With the inaugural flight, China Southern operates up to 7 flights daily from Yining to Urumqi. It faces direct competition from budget airlines such as 9air and Urumqi Air on the route. Loongair also operates non-stop flights from Urumqi to Hangzhou.
Before 29 October 2018, China Southern connects Yining with Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Changsha and Yinchuan via Urumqi. It also connects Yining directly with other Xinjiang cities.
