On 8 October 2020, Israel and Jordan signed a new airspace agreement, which take effects on 9 October. According to this airspace agreement, the two countries have opened more routes to fly over each other's airspace, which will shorten the flight time between the Gulf countries, East Asia, Europe and North America. Flights from the UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be allowed to fly over Israeli airspace.

According to reports, the European Air Navigation Safety Organization played an important role in the negotiation of the agreement.
