According to India English media The Economic Times, a Maldivian's Twin Otter 300 aircraft that arrived on the Venduruthy Channel at the Indian city of Kochi from Male on 25 October 2020 is embarking on its way to Ahmedabad where it is planned to launch India's first seaplane flight service.
In Ahmedabad, the Twin Otter 300 will operate flights between Sabarmati riverfront and the Statue of Unity in Narmada district. The India Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya said the service is likely to be launched on 31 October 2020 if the arrangement goes according to state plans.
Maldivian's Twin Otter 300 is a 19-seater plane that can accommodate 12 passengers. This is the first time a foreign aircraft is utilized for a seaplane service in India despite the pandemic.
