According to Bamboo Airways, two Embraer E195 aircraft joined Bamboo Airways on 29 September 2020 to launch operations in Vietnam with the first jet flights from Con Dao to Hanoi, Vinh and Haiphong.
Con Dao and the surrounding national park is a natural scenic area, 1,400 kilometers (760 nautical miles) from the capital Hanoi, on the southern coast of Vietnam. The island consists of 16 islands and is a popular tourist destination.
Bamboo Airways is the first airline to operate direct flights to Con Dao from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, Haiphong in the north, and Vinh in the center. Initially, the Hanoi-Con Dao flight operates twice a day, and the Haiphong and Vinh - Con Dao flights operate once a day. Bamboo Airways operates the aircraft in a comfortable single cabin layout with 118 seats.
"We are very honoured to be able to use the E195 aircraft to provide jet services to Con Dao," said Mr. Dang Tat Thang, Executive Vice President of Bamboo Airways. "The excellent short-runway take-off and landing performance of this model makes it an ideal model for commuting to and from Con Dao. The 2+2 seat layout of this model will provide passengers with a comfortable flight experience, spacious cabin, and unique business class service on the route."
The two E195s were wet leased from Great Dane Airlines.
Embraer Commercial Aircraft Asia Pacific Vice President Raul Villaron welcome the addition of Bamboo Airways to the list of E-jet aircraft operators in Asia. He said, "Congratulations to Bamboo Airways for this strategic move. The E-Jet series aircraft will provide airlines with great flexibility based on their operational performance and economy. The excellent fuel efficiency and economy of the E195 aircraft enable Bamboo Airways to effectively respond to fluctuations in passenger demand and use suitable aircraft to operate routes with smaller passenger flow. We welcome Bamboo Airways to join the Embraer customer family. Our global customer support team is ready to provide necessary help and support at any time."
Embraer is the world's leading manufacturer of commercial aircraft with less than 150 seats and has more than 100 customers worldwide. As far as the E-jet series aircraft project is concerned, Embraer currently has more than 1,800 aircraft orders and delivered more than 1,600 aircraft. Today, the E-Jet series of aircraft operate in more than 80 client fleets in 50 countries and regions around the world. This 70-150 seat class multi-functional aircraft family serves low-cost airlines, regional airlines and mainline airlines.
