Location
According to CAAC, Beijing's upcoming second international airport, officially named Beijing Daxing International Airport is located on the north bank of Yongding River, in Lixian Town, Daxing District, Beijing, and the Guangyang District of Langfang City, Hebei Province. It is located in the core area of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, about 55 km away from Xiongan New District and away from Beijing City. It is about 54 km from Beijing city centre, 85 km from Tianjin Binhai Airport, 26 km from Langfang city centre and 86 km from Baoding city centre. It has the potential to develop into a national and even world-class integrated transportation hub.
Project
Since the approval of the project in November 2014, the construction of the main project and parallel project of Beijing New Airport has been steadily advanced, and the preparatory work for the operation has achieved a good start. The airport and its supporting projects will be completed and accepted on 30 June 2019, and will be put into operation before 30 September 2019.
Up to now, the earthwork of the airport flight area has been completed 93%, and the pavement project has completed 62%. The flight area project is scheduled to be completed in May next year; the terminal building has now fully entered the stage of construction, such as fine decoration, mechanical and electrical installation, boarding bridge, etc. The renovation of the terminal building will be completed in April 2019; the air traffic control terminal control center has now fully entered the stage of fine decoration and electro-mechanical installation; the main project of China Aviation Oil Storage Tank has been completed and the test water test has been completed; the airline staff dormitory, the air food catering center and the supporting business rooms have completed the main structure capping or will soon complete the capping; the on-site municipal transportation supporting project has been accelerated, and the structure of the viaduct and the integrated pipe corridor structure have been completed.
Construction scale
The function of Beijing Daxing International Airport is positioned as a large international hub airport. According to the long-term plan, Beijing New Airport will build 7 runways to meet the annual passenger throughput of 100 million passengers, with 8,000 aircraft movements and 4 million tons of cargo and mail throughput. In the first phase of the project, four runways will be built. It is estimated that by 2025, the passenger throughput will reach 72 million passengers and the cargo and mail throughput will reach 2 million tons. The volume of the first phase of the project is closer to the 2017 Beijing Capital International Airport.
Terminal design
According to Zhao Qing, deputy dean of the Planning and Design Institute of China Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Co., Ltd., recently introduced at the 2018 Civil Aviation Trends Forum, the layout of Beijing Daxing International Airport Terminal Building is enclosed within a 1200m diameter circle, and the terminal design Radial configuration. Its characteristics are the shortest walking distance, the maximum number of near positions. Set up an international process along the central axis of the South Point Gallery. The radial formation of the transit core area facilitates international and domestic exchange. Smart airport construction

Asia's largest hangar
On September 3, the steel structure roof truss of No. 1 hangar of China Southern Airlines Beijing New Airport Base was successfully upgraded and the hangar was officially capped, which marked the new stage of China Southern's base construction at Beijing New Airport.
The capped No. 1 hangar covers an area of nearly 40,000 square meters, equivalent to 5 football fields or 80 basketball courts. It is the largest single project in the new airport base of China Southern Airlines. It will become the largest in Asia after completion. The maintenance hangar is also the world's largest and largest single-unit maintenance hangar.
