Sichuan Airlines launches its first African flight from Chengdu on 23 October 2018 using its Airbus A330 aircraft.
On 23 October 2018, Sichuan Airlines A330 flight 3U8391 departs from Chengdu for Cairo, the capital of Egypt at 2.05 am, touches down in Cairo at 7.15 am local time before leaving Cairo for Chengdu at 1.55 pm and arriving in Chengdu at 5.55 am under flight 3U8392 on 24 October 2018.
Sichuan Airlines departs for Cairo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while it leaves Cairo for Chengdu on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Passengers from Chengdu no longer need to transit in Hong Kong, Bangkok or Beijing for onward flights to Cairo.
Sichuan Airlines is selling one-way air fare plus taxes on the Cairo -Chengdu route from less than 300 Singapore Dollars. Chengdu - Cairo air ticket expense including taxes is about 600 Singapore Dollars.
It takes less than 12 hours to reach Cairo from Chengdu by air while it takes about 10 hours to reach Chengdu from Cairo.
