Organized by Japan Travel and Tourism Association(JTTA), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and Japan national Tourism Organization (JNTO), JATA Tourism Expo 2018 opens its doors at Tokyo Big Sight on 20 September 2018 after 12 pm.
From 2018 onwards, the organizers of JATA Tourism Expo allow trade buyers and media visitors to enter the exhibition grounds smoothening their opportunities for discussions after scanning of their badges' QR codes. To achieve this, visitors must be successfully registered online and badges are to be printed personally in colours before they arrive at the exhibition hall. Namecards are not required for verification at the entrance. These save the organizer's costs in setting up and operating the travel show and saving namecards for visitors and buyers for exchanges with the exhibitors.
The list of airline exhibitors of JATA Tourism Expo 2018 is not complete. Airline exhibitors include MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Scoot, China Airlines, Tigerair Taiwan, EVA Air, Air Macau, Garuda Indonesia, Aeromexico, Philippine Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Japan Airlines, S7 Airlines, Aeroflot Russian Airlines and All Nippon Airways.
New listed airline exhibitors exhibiting at JATA Tourism Expo 2018 include Air Mauritius, NokScoot, VietJet Air and AirX Inc., a helicopter charter flight service company.
Unexpected airline exhibitors that have turned up at the last minute and are not listed in the exhibitor catalogue include Uzbekistan Airways, Air Madagascar, Madagasikara Airways, China Eastern, China Southern, Sichuan Airlines and XiamenAir.
Tourism exhibitor regulars include Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Mongolia, Indonesia and Uzbekistan Pavilions.
The booth of MGTO, designed to look like a Macau town square, features a double-decker bus. The interior of this bus houses a photo gallery, including many images taken in August 2018. Air Macau distributes its Japanese Timetables at MGTO.
The Mongolia Pavilion continues its magnetic attractions of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, packages of well-known Mongolian tour operator Juulchin and the products and services of MIAT Mongolian Airlines including its attractive postcards and Timetables.
The Indonesia Pavilion is the largest Southeast Asia tourism contingent of JATA Tourism Expo. This year, Garuda Indonesia distributes its new aircraft postcards as well as its Japanese brochures and past issues of Colours at the Indonesia Pavilion. Catching attention is the rendition of Seulawah, Garuda Indonesia's first aircraft in history, on a postcard.
Uzbekistan Airways appears at the Uzbekistan Pavilion, distributing its newly-designed Uzbekistan Airways Inflight Magazine, diaries, year 2018/2019 calendars and Japanese flight schedules. Other members of the Uzbekistan contingent include Ulysse Tour and Hyatt Regency Tashkent.
Tourism exhibitors new to JATA Tourism Expo hail from Albania, Kazakhstan as well as many African countries including Mauritius, Angola, Uganda and Sudan.
Jona Travel DMC from Albania, as the Albanian branch of Lufthansa City Center, showcases Albania tourism through Albania maps and tour packages such as its 10 Nights / 11 Days tour packages to Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. It also markets 7 Nights / 8 Days packages to Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. It will also debut at ITB Asia 2018 to be held in Singapore on 17 to 19 October 2018, meeting face-to-face with the Head Office of Lufthansa City Center from Germany.
Tourism destinations of Albania include Kruja, the home of Albania's national hero G.K. Skanderbeg, Skanders Square and the Ethnographic Museum.
There is an increase in the number of exhibitors from Central Asia as well. For example, five outbound travel agencies hail from Kyrgyzstan, an increase of 3 from 2017.
News from All Nippon Airways, Air Mauritius, Madagasikara Airways and AirX, Inc. will follow shortly.
The next edition of JATA Tourism Expo will be moved to Osaka Intex in Osaka. It will take place from 24 to 27 October 2019. The organizer has decided to allow Osaka to hold the event during autumn for two years, thus giving other Japanese cities chances to hold Asia's largest annual domestic and international travel show.
