Shanghai Airlines, part of China Eastern, has received its first B787-9, its 100th aircraft on 21 September 2018 and commenced its test flight to Kunming from Shanghai Hongqiao on 26 September 2018. It operates its first commercial flight to Chengdu from Shanghai Hongqiao under flight FM9787 on 28 September 2018 at 8 am. It is expected to arrive in Chengdu at 11.15 am.
The airline has an additional order of 9 B787-9 aircraft and will receive them before 2020. The B787-9 fleet of Shanghai Airlines will operate on commercial routes to Chengdu, Beijing Capital, Guangzhou, Narita and Incheon before opening more international flights to other foreign destinations such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Suvarnabhumi.
