Hainan Airlines has received its first Airbus A321neo aircraft in Hamburg, Germany, becoming the latest customer to operate this efficient and advanced single-aisle aircraft.

The A321neo aircraft is powered by CFM International Leap-1A engines and features the new Airbus "Airspace" interior. Hainan Airlines has set up 8 Business Class seats and 196 Economy Class seats in a two-class cabin layout. Among them, the first three rows of economy class have been widened to provide passengers with a more comfortable riding experience.

Hainan Airlines was established in January 1993 in Hainan Province, China's largest special economic zone and free trade port. 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Airbus' cooperation with China's civil aviation and the 20th anniversary of Hainan Airlines' introduction of its first Airbus aircraft. As of May 2025, Hainan Airlines operates a total of 27 A330 series aircraft and 8 A320neo aircraft.

The Airbus A320neo family is one of the most popular single-aisle aircraft in the world, with more than 11,000 orders from more than 140 customers worldwide. The aircraft family combines advanced aerodynamic design, new generation engines and enhanced cabin features to deliver greater efficiency, ride comfort and operational flexibility.

Like all Airbus aircraft, the A321neo is currently capable of flying with up to a 50% blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to have all its aircraft able to fly with up to 100% SAF fuel by 2030.
