According to the Vietnam News Agency, at 9.55 am on 9 December 2022, Vietnam Airlines flight VN502 takes off from Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou, marking the re-opening of flights between Vietnam and China since the outbreak of the covid epidemic. The first scheduled commercial flight in three years has officially resumed.
In the initial stage, Vietnam Airlines will resume three routes to China, including Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou (departure every Friday from 9 December); Hanoi to Pudong (from 12 December, two flights a week (Monday, Friday); Ho Chi Minh City to and from Pudong (from 14 December 2022, every Wednesday).
With the resumption of scheduled flights to China, Vietnam Airlines resumed almost all international destinations, increasing the total number of flights operated by its international network to more than 600 flights per week, equivalent to 70% of the total number of flights before the outbreak.
For entry procedures, passengers need to take the initiative to inquire about relevant regulations at the Chinese embassy in Vietnam to ensure necessary documents and procedures, including nucleic acid testing within 48 hours before boarding, applying for a health information code for epidemic prevention, and wearing N95 masks when entering the country.
