After three years of political disputes, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will resume flights between Doha and Riyadh from 11 October 2021.
According to Qatar Airways, it will resume flights to Riyadh from 11 January 2021, starting from 14 January 2021 to Jeddah and to Dammam from 16 January 2021.
Qatar Airways said, "For Saudi Arabia's main airports and trade and cargo partners in Saudi Arabia, we also look forward to restoring a strong relationship between the two sides."
Saudia also tweeted that flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to Doha will resume flights from 11 January.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates announced in June 2017 that they had severed political, diplomatic and economic relations with Qatar, and imposed a land, sea, and air blockade on Qatar's support of terrorism and excessive close relations with Iran. The Doha authorities have repeatedly denied the allegations and emphasized that the severance of diplomatic relations was without justification.
On 5 January, the 41st Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit was held in Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, it was announced that Saudi Arabia and the other three Arab allies that have imposed a blockade on Qatar have agreed to resume full relations with Qatar.
