On 3 January 2021, the Indian aviation industry welcomes its newest airline, FlyBig. Headquartered in Indore, FlyBig utilizes ATR72 to launch its first scheduled flight to Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat, on 3 January which lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. This is followed by the charter flight from  Shillong to Delhi on 4 January 2021.

From 13 January 2021, FlyBig will add the Indore-Raipur route to its route network. From 1 February 2021, the airline will start flying from Ahmedabad to Bhopal. By the end of March this year, the airline will open daily flights connecting all three second-tier cities.

In the first few weeks, FlyBig will operate three times a week. The company was founded by Sanjay Mandavia, a former pilot who later changed his career to become an aviation entrepreneur. The company’s chief executive, Srinivas Rao, said, “Starting in mid-February, we will expand and open 5 flights a week.”

"We opened bookings two days ago, and we have seen 25% of bookings." The airline has more than 15,000 agents, many of them in second-tier cities, and negotiations with online travel agencies are also in progress.
