Tigerair Australia was officially closed down by Bain Capital on 11 September 2020 due to the pandemic. Tigerair Australia was originally a budget subsidiary of Tigerair Singapore. When Scoot merged with Tigerair, Tigerair Australia was passed on as a subsidiary of Virgin Australia.
