MAI introduces flights to Dubai, Amman, Tel Aviv, among others, plans to add E190s to its fleet

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has recently introduced relief flights from Yangon to Dubai, Amman, Tel Aviv, Doha, among other new destinations, according to its Public Relations Department. 

MAI's first flight to Dubai from Yangon departs on 7 August 2020 at 7.15 am under flight 8M1100 and leaves Dubai for Yangon at 11.30 pm local time under flight 8M1101. Subsequently, two more flights are operated on 19 August and 1 September 2020 under the same flight pairs at different timings. The fourth flight to Dubai commences on 21 September 2020.

MAI's inaugural charter flight to Tel Aviv is launched on 13 September 2020 with the outbound flight taking off from Yangon at 6.50 am under flight 8M1103 via Dubai and Amman. It landed in Tel Aviv at 7.03 am on 14 September 2020.

Prior to Dubai, Amman and Tel Aviv, MAI has also commenced charters to Colombo, Doha, Manila, Denpasar and Sydney. Its first charter flight to Colombo from Yangon takes place on 16 May 2020 under flight 8M611 at 9.45 am while its first flight to Doha commences on 14 Jun 2020 under flight 8M120 at 12.50 pm.

MAI's first Manila flight commences on 25 June 2020 with flight leaving Yangon at 8 am and taking off from Manila at 2.30 pm under flight pairs 8M4001/8M4002.

On 18 July 2020, MAI started its longest route to Sydney via Denpasar under flight 8M1001 at 7.15 am and returned non-stop to Yangon from Sydney at 10 am on 20 July 2020 under flight 8M1003.

According to MAI, as of 1 September 2020, it has carried 14,984 passengers and 565,347 kg of cargo from 26 destinations on a total of 338 flights.

Currently, MAI operates a fleet of one Airbus A320 and one A319. The other A319 is grounded. Before end of 2020, it expects to receive four ex-China Southern Embraer E190 regional aircraft on lease from CDB Aviation, which it ordered during the Singapore Air Show 2020, to supplement operations by its subsidiary Air KBZ on its domestic regional route network which will help provide feeder traffic to MAI's Airbus fleet in Yangon.
