HK Express launches its inaugural A321neo commercial flight on 2 April 2023

On 29 March 2023, HK Express, a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, announced the arrival of its first Airbus A321neo passenger aircraft. It launches its first commercial flight to Suvarnabhumi on 2 April 2023 until 8 April 2023. After 8 April, it will serve different destinations with the existing fleet. 

The Airbus A321neo of HK Express is the longest fuselage model in the Airbus A320 fleet. In the next two years, a total of 16 passenger planes of the same model will be received. The appearance of the new aircraft is painted with a new design, and there are new logos of HK Express on the wings and tail. 

Compared with the old model A321, tthe A321neo has 6 more seats. It can carry 236 passengers, and the average fuel consumption per seat will be reduced by 20%. A carbon offset plan for passengers will be launched within this year.

With the strong tourism recovery trend in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and other Asian markets, the number of HK Express flights has now returned to pre-pandemic levels. HK Express expects to operate more than 400 flights per week in a few weeks, and will exceed the pre-epidemic level by summer to reach more than 500 flights per week.

HK Express is an all-Airbus operator, with its current fleet comprising 27 A320 Family aircraft, including 11A321ceo, 10 A320neo, five A320ceo and its first A321neo.

Firefly deploys B737-800 on trans-Malaysia routes

From 16 May 2023, Firefly is expanding utilization of its B737-800 jets on domestic flights. The three B737-800 aircraft begins scheduled daily flights from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau, Kuching, and from Kuching to Miri, replacing current Malaysia Airlines' flights on these sectors.

Firefly launches flight from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau on 16 May 2023

From 16 May 2023, Firefly flight FY2520 leaves Kota Kinabalu for Tawau at 7 am, touches down in Tawau at 7.50 am before departing from Tawau for Kota Kinabalu at 8.30 am and landing in Kota Kinabalu at 9.20 am under flight FY2521.

This is the first B737-800 flight of Firefly in East Malaysia.

Firefly launches flight from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching on 16 May 2023

The second B737-800 return flight of Firefly in Malaysia is on the Kota Kinabalu=Kuching routes.

According to schedules, on 16 May 2023, Firefly flight FY2562 departs from Kota Kinabalu for Kuching at 12.45 pm, touches down in Kuching at 2.05 pm before leaving Kuching for Kota Kinabalu at 6.05 pm and landing in Kota Kinabalu at 7.35 pm under flight FY2563.

Firefly launches flight from Kuching to Miri on 16 May 2023

On 16 May 2023, Firefly flight FY2680 takes off from Kuching for Miri at 2.45 pm, touches down in Miri at 3.45 pm before leaving Miri for Kuching at 4.25 pm and arriving in Kuching at 5.25 pm under flight FY2681.

Firefly's B737-800 fleet of 4 aircraft flies from KLIA to Penang, Senai and from Penang to Banda Aceh, Kualanamu, Phuket and Changi before 16 May 2023. Due to expansion of its international flight network, the aircraft type has terminated services from Senai to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. 

Beside B737-800, the airline has 9 ATR72-500 turboprops operating flights on Firefly's other routes including  the Subang=Kuala Terangganu, Langkawi, Sandakan and Seletar routes.

Lucky Air launches flight to Luang Prabang on 11 May 2023

Lucky Air launches direct scheduled flight from Kunming to Luang Prabang without stopover in Vientiane on 11 May 2023.

On 11 May 2023, Lucky Air flight 8L863 takes off from Kunming for Luang Prabang at 7.55 am, touches down in Luang Prabang at 8.30 am before leaving  Luang Prabang for Kunming at 9.30 am and touching down in Kunming at 11.40 am under flight 8L864 on 11 May 2023, according to schedules.

Lucky Air flies to Luang Prabang with its B737-800 jet on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Shenzhen Airlines launches daily flight to Ho Chi Minh City on 2 May 2023

Shenzhen Airlines launches direct flight from Shenzhen to Ho Chi Minh City on 2 May 2023 with its B737-800 aircraft.

On 2 May 2023, according to schedules, Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH8017 takes off from Shenzhen for Ho Chi Minh City at 12.05 am, touches down in Ho Chi Minh City at 1.50 am before departing from Ho Chi Minh City for Shenzhen at 2.50 am and landing in Shenzhen at 6.30 am under flight ZH8018.

Shenzhen Airlines flies daily to Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Starlux Airlines adds frequency to Ho Chi Minh City route on 7 May 2023

Starlux Airlines is increasing its flight frequency to Ho Chi Minh City from Taoyuan from 7 May 2023. Overall service is increasing from 7 daily flights to 8 flights a week. 

The additional day is on Friday, when Starlux flight JX713 departs from Taoyuan for Ho Chi Minh City at 7.50 am, touches down in Ho Chi Minh City at 10.15 am before leaving Ho Chi Minh City for Taoyuan at 11.25 am and touching down in Taoyuan at 3.50 pm under flight JX714.

Currently, Starlux flight JX711 leaves Taoyuan every day at 3.55 pm for Ho Chi Minh City, lands in Ho Chi Minh City at 6.20 pm before taking off from Ho Chi Minh City for Taoyuan at 7.55 pm and arriving in Taoyuan at 12.20 am the next day under flight JX712.

The above flights are operated by Starlux's A321neo aircraft.

Aero Mongolia to launch flight to Incheon in 2023

Aero Mongolia plans to launch flight from Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN) in Khoshig Valley to Incheon in 2023, according to Aero Mongolia Ticket Office in Ulaanbaatar. The airline currently flies to Narita, Hanoi, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Tianjin and Hohhot internationally.

Starlux Airlines launches charter flight to Guam on 1 April 2023

Starlux Airlines launches direct charter flight to Guam from Taoyuan on 1 April 2023. The charter flight starts every four days from 1 April until 24 June 2023.

According to schedules, Starlux flight JX8072 departs from Taoyuan for Guam at 10.30 am, touches down in Guam at 4.20 pm before leaving Guam for Taoyuan at 5.20 pm and landing in Taoyuan at 7.25 pm under flight JX8073.

Air Macau begins A320neo flight to Changi on 28 March 2023

On 28 March 2023, Air Macau surprises Singapore by introducing its Airbus A320neo flight on its Macau=Changi routes. This is the first time the airline is utilizing A320neo leased from BOC Aviation, an aircraft leasor firm based in Singapore, on its longest international route.

The A320neo is added to Air Macau as it plans to launch future flights to Mumbai and as far as Perth as the pandemic eases. The aircraft type complements the airline's usage of A320ceo aircraft. 

Air Macau's 28 March 2023 flight NX908 operated by the A320neo, in place of the normal A320ceo, landed in Changi at 2.50 pm.

Air Macau flies to Changi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Firefly successfully launches B737-800 flight to Changi on 26 March 2023

Firefly, the low-cost subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, successfully launches its first B737-800 flight to Changi from Penang on 26 March 2023. The aircraft arrived in Changi T2 at 11.09 am under flight FY3662.

Firefly is the only airline to operate scheduled flights from Seletar and Changi to Malaysia.

Air China launches direct flight from Tianfu to Changi on 27 March 2023. Flight CA403 is scheduled to leave Tianfu for Changi at 10.15 am and arrives in Changi at 3 pm before taking off from Changi at 4 pm and landing in Tianfu at 9 pm under flight CA404.

Air Macau successfully launches its resumption flight to Changi on 23 March 2023

Air Macau's first A321 flight NX908 successfully leaves Macau for Changi on 23 March 2023 at 9.37 am and arrives in Changi at 1.03 pm while flight NX907 takes off from Changi for Macau at 2.51 pm and lands in Macau at 6.17 pm.

The aircraft used for NX908/NX907 is registered B-MBM.

The intended scheduled flight timing is as follows:-

On 23 March and 25 March 2023, flight NX908 departs from Macau for Changi 9.20 am and touches down in Changi at 1.20 pm while flight NX907 leaves Changi for Macau at 2.20 pm and arrives in Macau at 6.35 pm.

From 28 March 2023, Air Macau's Airbus A320 takes over the route operation with flight NX908 leaving Macau for Changi at 11 am and arriving in Changi at 3.10 pm while flight NX907 departs from Changi for Macau at 4.10 pm and touches down in Macau at 7.55 pm local time on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Shenzhen Airlines resumes flight to London Heathrow on 26 March 2023

Shenzhen Airlines resumes scheduled flight to London Heathrow from Shenzhen on 26 March 2023 with its Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

On 26 March 2023, Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9067 departs from Shenzhen for London Heathrow at 1.50 pm, touches down in London Heathrow at 8.10 pm before leaving Heathrow for Shenzhen at 10.05 pm and arriving in Shenzhen at 5.45 pm on 27 March 2023 under flight ZH9068.

Shenzhen Airlines flies to London Heathrow on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and lands in Shenzhen on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

According to AeroRoutes, the airline plans to reduce the flights to three weekly flights from 30 April 2023 to 30 May 2023.

Tickets can be purchased on the web-site of Shenzhen Airlines and major on-line ticketing platforms such as Ctrip, Trip, SkyScanner and VariFlight.

Thai Lion Air launches flight to Bengaluru on 24 April 2023

Thai Lion Air launches non-stop scheduled flight from Don Mueang to Bengaluru, India, on 24 April 2023 with its B737-800 aircraft.

On 24 April 2023, Thai Lion Air flight SL216 departs from Don Mueang for Bengaluru at 9 pm, touches down in Bengaluru at 11.05 pm before leaving Bengaluru for Don Mueang at 12.10 am and arriving in Don Mueang at 5.35 am on 25 April 2023 under flight SL217.

Thai Lion Air flies to Bengaluru on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while it arrives in Don Mueang from Bengaluru on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Thai Lion Air has been very active in launching and resuming international routes. In recent months, it has resumed flights to Singapore, Nepal, Taiwan and China. Its parent company Lion Air's international routes are currently restricted to Malaysia, China and Saudi Arabia.

EL AL plans thrice-weekly flights to Melbourne by June 2024

EL AL Israel Airlines plans to launch thrice-weekly non-stop flights from Tel Aviv to Melbourne with its 787-9 Dreamliner by June 2024. The airline has signed the Letter Of Intention (LOI) with the Victorian government to provide 44,000 annual seats on thrice-weekly flights.

The direct route takes 15 hours of flight over Saudi airspace and the Indian Ocean.

EL AL CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia says the airline plans to position Melbourne as Israel's gateway to Australia in order to strengthen bilateral business connections and create jobs locally.

Israel is also an important market for Australia's international education sector, with 45 percent of Israeli students in Australia enrolled in Victorian institutions in 2019.

Currently, Jews and tourists have to transit in Suvarnabhumi or Hong Kong for their EL AL flights to Tel Aviv from Australia.

Vietnam Airlines launches flights to Mumbai from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 20 and 22 May 2023 respectively

Vietnam Airlines, that flies A321/A321neo daily flights to Changi Terminal 4 from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, launches scheduled non-stop flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with these aircraft to compete with VietJet Air on 20 and 22 May 2023 respectively. In late March 2023, it is increasing existing flight frequencies to Delhi from these cities.

Vietnam Airlines first flew to Delhi from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in June 2022.

On 20 May 2023, Vietnam Airlines flight VN973 departs from Hanoi for Mumbai at 6.20 pm, touches down in Mumbai at 9.35 pm before leaving Mumbai for Hanoi at 11.10 pm and arriving in Hanoi on 21 May 2023 at 5.30 am local time under flight VN972.

On 22 May 2023, Vietnam Airlines flight VN979 takes off from Ho Chi Minh City for Mumbai at 5.55 pm, touches down in Mumbai at 9.35 pm before leaving Mumbai for Ho Chi Minh City at 11.10 pm and arriving in Hanoi on 23 May 2023 at 6 am local time under flight VN978.

Vietnam Airlines flies to Mumbai from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays and lands in  these Vietnamese city airports on Thursdays, Saturdays and Tuesdays.

Vietnam Airlines increases flights to Delhi from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 26 and 28 March 2023 respectively

Currently, Vietnam Airlines flies thrice a week from Hanoi and twice a week from Ho Chi Minh City to Delhi with its A321 aircraft. From 26 March 2023, it increases the flight frequencies to Delhi to four flights a week (Hanoi) and three flights a week (Ho Chi Minh City). So, there are daily flights from Vietnam to Delhi.

On 26 March 2023, flight VN971 departs from Hanoi for Delhi at 7.05 pm, lands in Delhi at 10.05 pm before leaving Delhi for Hanoi at 11.35 pm and touching down in Hanoi on 27 March 2023 at 5.40 am local time.

On 28 March 2023, flight VN977 departs from Ho Chi Minh City for Delhi at 6.25 pm, arrives in Delhi at 10.05 pm before leaving Delhi for Ho Chi Minh City at 11.35 pm and touching down in Ho Chi Minh City on 27 March 2023 at 6.25 am local time.

Vietnam Airlines flies to Delhi from Hanoi on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 26 March 2023. It lands in Hanoi from Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Vietnamese national flag carrier departs for Delhi from Ho Chi Minh City on TuesdaysThursdays and Saturdays from 28 March 2023 and arrives in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Air Macau launches twice-weekly flight to Don Mueang on 28 March 2023

Air Macau launches Airbus A321 twice-weekly scheduled flight, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to Don Mueang Airport of Bangkok on 28 March 2023 to meet soaring demand of travellers to Thailand.

According to schedules, Air Macau flight NX931 departs from Macau to Don Mueang on 28 March 2023 at 9.50 am, touches down in Don Mueang at 11.30 am before leaving Don Mueang for Macau at 12.30 pm and arriving in Macau at 4.10 pm under flight NX932.

The above flights are effective for travel on Tuesdays.

On Thursdays, flight NX931 leaves Macau for Don Mueang at 6.50 am, lands in Don Mueang at 8.30 am before taking off from Don Mueang for Macau at 9.30 am and arriving in Macau at 1 pm under flight NX932.

Air Macau's scheduled flights to Suvarnabhumi from Macau are not interrupted. 

Don Mueang is attracting full-service airlines. The first full-service airline to operate services to Don Mueang this year is Juneyao Air from Pudong. Air Macau is second.

Lao Airlines launches flight to Danang on 30 March 2023

Lao Airlines launches non-stop scheduled flight from Vientiane to Danang with its Airbus A320 aircraft on 30 March 2023.

On 30 March 2023, Lao Airlines flight QV317 departs from Vientiane for Danang at 9.45 am, touches down in Danang at 11 am before leaving Danang for Vientiane at 12 pm and arriving in Vientiane at 1.15 pm under flight QV318.

Previously, flight codes QV317 and QV318 are the codes of Lao Airlines' Vientiane=Hanoi routes.

Lao Airlines flies to Danang on Thursdays and Sundays.


Cambodia Angkor Air launches flight to Macau on 15 March 2023

Cambodia Angkor Air has announced on Facebook that it has launched scheduled flight from Phnom Penh to Macau on 15 March 2023. The service is operated with A320 aircraft.

On 15 and 22 March 2023, Cambodia Angkor Air flight K6196 departs from Phnom Penh for Macau at 9.20 am, touches down in Macau at 1 pm before leaving Macau for Phnom Penh at 2 pm and arriving in Phnom Penh at 11.50 pm under flight K6197.

From 29 March 2023 to 6 May 2023, flight K6196 leaves Phnom Penh for Macau at 5.30 pm, touches down in Macau at 9.10 pm before taking off from Macau for Phnom Penh at 10.10 pm and landing in Phnom Penh at 11.50 pm under flight K6197.

Cambodia Angkor Air flies to Macau on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Phnom Penh-Macau route is previously operated by Bassaka Air and Cambodia Airways. Bassaka Air is now defunct while Cambodia Airways currently flies to Siem Reap, Changi, Samui, Shenzhen, Suvarnabhumi, and from 27 March 2023, Beijing Daxing and Chengdu Tianfu from 28 March 2023.
