Nigerian airline Air Peace will start direct flights to Guangzhou, China and Mumbai, India to expand its route network on the Asian continent. It will be the first African airline to launch flight to Guangzhou in 2022.
Air Peace said in a statement on Tuesday (5 July 2022) that the weekly flight from Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub, to Guangzhou, is scheduled to start on 13 July 2022 and will be scheduled on a commercial basis later this month. Sometimes it operates twice-weekly flights to Mumbai.
Flights to Guangzhou and Mumbai will be operated using B777-200ER/B777-300 jets.
"Air Peace is unwavering in its commitment to reducing the burden of air travel for Africans, and we will continue to grow our route network and strategically modernize our fleet," airline spokeswoman Stanley Olisa said in a statement.
After just seven years of development, Air Peace has a network of 20 domestic routes, seven regional routes and four international routes, including Dubai, Johannesburg, Douala and Niamey, launched in 2019, 2020, 2021 and March 2022 respectively.
In addition to its expansion in Asia, Air Peace is moving forward with the launch of its Israeli operations. Olisa also mentioned that the airline is working on two other African destinations - Malabo in Equatorial Guinea and Kinshasa in Congo.
Air Peace operates the largest modern hybrid fleet in West and Central Africa of more than 30 aircraft, including five brand new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, 1 B777-200ER and 2 B777-300 jets.
