Fiji Airways launches direct flight from Nadi to Vancouver on 25 November 2022

On 5 July 2022, Fiji Airways announces in its press release that it is launching direct scheduled flight to Vancouver from Nadi on 25 November 2022.

On 25 November 2022, Fiji Airways flight FJ880 departs from Nadi for Vancouver at 10.15 pm, touches down in Vancouver at local time 1.20 pm before leaving Vancouver for Nadi at 9.40 pm on the same day and arriving in Nadi two days later at 5.30 am under flight FJ881.

Fiji Airways operates non-stop flight to Vancouver with its Airbus A330-200 jet on Fridays and Mondays. It leaves Vancouver on the same days and touches down in Nadi on Sundays and Wednesdays.

The airline reveals that Canada has a Diaspora population of 80,000 Fijians who yearn to visit Fiji non-stop after two years of the pandemic. Before the pandemic and currently, Fijians have to fly to Nadi via Los Angeles or San Francisco but the exorbitant cost of indirect flights has deterred them from doing so. 

Fiji Airways added opening a new travel market like Canada will boost Fijian tourism, "Returning to the skies doesn’t just mean resuming existing routes. If we are to strengthen ourselves and grow as a business, we must invest in new markets and solidify our networks. Vancouver was the ideal choice for us."

Besides launching the new route to Vancouver, Fiji Airways has resumed flights to Singapore early this year, Adelaide on 4 July 2022 and Port Vila. 

The airline also states on 9 August 2022, Fiji Airways will lead a trade delegation on a promotional flight to Vancouver to engage with travel industry experts and partners in Canada.
