Starlux Airlines deploys A330neo ahead of Taiwan's reopening of borders

Starlux Airlines is deploying ahead its fleet of schedule so that when the pandemic no longer poses danger to the Taiwanese and tourists, commercial flights may resume with the appropriate aircraft. 

According to FlightRadar24, the first A330neo wide-body passenger jet of Starlux Airlines departed from Toulouse, France at 8.38 pm on 18 February 2022 and arrived in Taoyuan at 5.16 pm on 19 February 2022.

Starlux Airlines's A330neo can carry 297 passengers. After passing the verification and completing crew training, it is expected to be officially launching scheduled services to Asia-Pacific destinations such as Macau, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Suvarnabhumi and Narita in May 2022.

Starlux Airlines to take delivery of A350XWB in the second half of 2022

The long-haul passenger aircraft A350 XWB is also expected to be delivered in the second half of this year, and the fleet layout of Starlux in the medium and long-haul travel markets is also becoming complete.

In terms of overall fleet planning, Zhang Guowei, Chairman of Starlux Airlines, said that the existing A321neo, the newly delivered A330neo, and the upcoming A350 XWB will allow Starlux to operate in short, medium and long-haul markets. In place, the future waypoint planning can be more complete.

"The A330neo has excellent performance and facilitates the transition of pilots between Airbus aircraft. The addition of this aircraft will not only make the fleet more flexible, but also allow more passengers on regional routes to enjoy the services of Starlux Airlines." Zhang Guowei added.

Prelude to travel in the post-epidemic era has begun with A330neo delivery

Looking at the current Starlux fleet planning, all of them use French Airbus models. With the delivery of the first A330neo, the prelude to tourism in the post-epidemic era has begun. Starlux said that the long-haul passenger aircraft A350 XWB will also be delivered in the second half of the year. In the future, the three main models of A321neo, A330neo and A350 XWB, short, medium and long-haul, will be matched with each other, which can increase the density of the aviation network and optimize the range, allowing more global passengers to experience the services of Starlux Airlines.

Starlux Airlines will lease 8 A330neo in total, and will introduce 3 new models of the same model this year. Compared with the previous generation A330, the neo model can save 12% of fuel consumption per trip. The engine adopts new titanium alloy blades and design improvements. Noise is greatly reduced.

Carry-on luggage lockers are added to the 297 seats of A330neo

In terms of internal configuration, Starlux's A330neo cabin is planned to have 297 seats, including 28 business class seats with a 1-2-1 seat configuration; 269 Economy Class seats with a 2-4-2 seat configuration; carry-on luggage lockers are added. 66% larger cabin LED lighting can switch different mood lights at various stages of the flight to help passengers adjust for jet lag.

The interior design of the cabin is also designed by the BMW Designworks team that has cooperated before. The overall style continues the main colour of the previous A321neo "Yashi Pure Tea", using earth-colored, warm and tactile fabrics and leathers.

For Business Class, the privacy of the fully-flat seats has been greatly improved. The 1-2-1 seat configuration allows each passenger to enjoy an independent aisle entrance and exit. The seats are completely covered with space silver back shells and installed. Large-sized aisles and seat partitions, seat lockers can not only store personal items such as bottled water, earphones, etc., but also set up cosmetic mirrors, seat reading lights with 3-stage brightness control, and wireless mobile phone charging devices.

The German RECARO seats of Starlux's A330neo enhance headrest support and access to drinks

The economy class adopts German RECARO seats. The new ultra-thin seatback design improves leg space. The leather headrest can be adjusted in 6 ways, and the up and down movement range is up to 6 inches, so that every passenger can enjoy the best headrest support. The back of the chair is equipped with an exclusive stand for tablet computers, and specially designed cup holders so that passengers can no longer have to clip the cups in magazine bags and worry about knocking over drinks.

Starlux upgrades personal entertainment system in A330neo

The personal entertainment system of A330neo has also been greatly upgraded. Business Class is equipped with a 17.3-inch 4K large screen, and every passenger in economy class can also enjoy 13.3-inch 4K image quality in tune with passenger usage habits.
