On 6 November 2019, Vietnam Airlines announced that it is launching new routes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Shenzhen in late November 2019 using its Airbus A321 aircraft.
The first Vietnam Airlines scheduled flight to Shenzhen departs from Ho Chi Minh City on 27 November 2019 at 10.45 pm under flight VN536, arrives in Shenzhen at 2.15 am on 28 November 2019 before leaving Shenzhen for Ho Chi Minh City at 3.35 am and arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 5.10 am under flight VN537.
The first Vietnam Airlines scheduled flight to Shenzhen departs from Hanoi on 28 November 2019 at 11.55 pm under flight VN538, touches down in Shenzhen at 2.30 am o before leaving Shenzhen for Hanoi at 3.35 am and arriving in Hanoi at 4.30 am under flight VN539 on 29 November 2019.
Vietnam Airlines flies thrice-weekly from Ho Chi Minh City to Shenzhen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and arrives in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Shenzhen. It operates flights from Hanoi to Shenzhen on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends and arrives in Hanoi from Shenzhen on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays.
Vietnam Airlines faces direct competition on the Shenzhen - Hanoi route from Shenzhen Airlines while its competitor on the route to Ho Chi Minh City from Shenzhen is China Southern.
