9air Co., Ltd., Guangzhou-based low-cost airline owned by Juneyao Airlines and China's fourth budget carrier after Spring Airlines West Air and China United Airlines, has launched a charter flight from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang on 2 December 2014.

The charter flight is organized by 9air Co., Ltd. for travel agents and journalists in Guangdong Province. No 9-cents or 9-dollar fares are offered for the flight bookings. According to Chinese media, 9air has difficulties in securing its online booking facility and thus is not able to provide a fixed flight schedule for its Zhanjiang flight.

Thus although the inaugural flight is a charter one, 9air is incurring loses right from the beginning. It currently seeks to recover costs by selling its aircraft models on its web-site.

According to the airline's web-site at www.9air.com, 9air Co., Ltd. has plans to launch scheduled flights to Shanghai-Hongqiao, Zhanjiang and Wenzhou from Guangzhou at unspecified dates.
