According to comprehensive foreign media reports, on 1 November 2023, local time, the Malaysian Aviation Commission announced the suspension of the air service license (ASL) of low-cost airline MYAirline. The Commission stated in a statement that this decision takes effect immediately in accordance with Section 43(1) of the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015.
The Malaysian Aviation Commission requested MYAirline to submit a written statement on 13 October 2023 to explain the reasons for the airline’s sudden suspension of operations.
The Malaysian Aviation Commission stated: "The Commission stated in a statement that it received a written statement from MYAirline on the 27th of last month. After reviewing the written statement, because the airline's statement was not consistent with the requirements, Malaysia Aviation Commission decided to suspend MYAirline’s air services license.”
The executive chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission pointed out that although the commission highly considers revoking MYAirline’s air service license, this may cause the airline to stop paying refunds to affected passengers.
MYAirline was established on 1 November 2021, and was approved to operate by the Malaysian government on 24 January 2022. On 12 October 2023, the airline suddenly suspended operations and flights, affecting an estimated 125,000 passengers.
