Chang Kuo-wei, chairman of Starlux Airlines, personally drove the A350-900 inaugural flight from Taipei to Los Angeles on 26 April 2023. Many fans bought tickets to support him. He said that there are opportunities for the routes that the A350 flies (Los Angeles and Singapore).
Los Angeles is the first North American destination of Starlux Airlines. According to Chang Kuo-wei, the route to its second North American destination San Francisco will be launched before the end of 2023, and the inaugural flight to its third North American destination Seattle will be launched in mid-2024. In the year ahead, Starlux's new routes will focus on these destinations in western America.
In 2025, Starlux Airlines plans to add New York to its long-haul route network. However, due to the long voyage to the east of the United States, the flights will not take place until the A350-1000 is delivered.
As for Vancouver, Starlux Airlines is also evaluating the feasibility of the new route from Taoyuan. As for Indonesia, it has just got the flight landing rights last week and destinations in Indonesia are also under evaluation.
Chang Kuo-wei pointed out that the North American route is the main force of Starlux Airlines. For example, Starlux ordered a total of 18 A350s in 2019, and it is estimated that 95% of the A350s will fly to North American airports.
