Air Belgium has postponed its inaugural flight to Hong Kong from 30 April 2018 to 3 June 2018, citing the Russian permit to fly over Russian air space towards Hong Kong has not been granted as the main reason. It also mentions its GDS reservation system is not easily accessed by Chinese tour operators.
Meanwhile, it relies on its Chinese tour agent partner Utour to attract Chinese passengers to book the flights from Hong Kong.
Air Belgium has notified affected passengers on ticket refunds and possible passenger transfers to Cathay Pacific Airways, which operates flights from Hong Kong to Brussels.
