The official company name of Ruili Airlines is now Sunan Ruili Airlines Co., Ltd.

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

Based on news from Wuxi Daily and Wuxi Bobao, Sunan Ruili Airlines Co., Ltd. held an unveiling ceremony on 8 September 2021. Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, met with Xu Gang, CEO of Airbus China, and inaugurated Sunan Ruili Airlines Co., Ltd.. City leaders Jiang Min and Zhang Mingkang, CAE China President Cai Duo attended the meeting and signing ceremony. Upon completion of the relevant rename approval procedures, "Sunan Ruili" will become the resounding name of Jiangsu's first local airline.

Wuxi is the first city in Jiangsu Province with a local airline. This "settlement" can be said to be an important moment in the history of civil aviation in Wuxi and even Jiangsu! With this valuable "admission ticket" for entering the upstream and downstream of the civil aviation industry, Wuxi will take off by "opportunity" and will fly in a larger horizon!

With Ruili Airlines landing in Wuxi, Wuxi Airlines finally "dreams into reality", Wuxi's comprehensive transportation system will also make up for a key shortcoming. "Place more transportation origins in Wuxi!" At the two sessions this year, Liu Yuhai, member of the CPPCC, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Transportation Group, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that "out of the circle" was appropriate.

Ruili Airlines currently operates 21 aircrafts, opens 84 domestic routes, and the route network covers 46 general aviation cities. Of course, Wuxi's aviation development does not stop there. In fact, in the aviation field, Wuxi Transportation Group has been deployed for many years, and the results are very obvious:

The first phase of the Dingshu General Airport in Yixing will be completed and put into operation at the end of this year, and the second phase of the airport will be carried out simultaneously. The "one-hour air commuter circle" of the Yangtze River Delta General Airport is just around the corner.

At that time, Dingshu General Airport will connect with the existing transportation airport layout and aviation industry, and form a complementary and dislocation development with Sunan Shuofang International Airport, support and drive the development of large-scale and characteristic general aviation industry focus areas, and build Wuxi's "dual airport" pattern .

It is worth noting that around Dingshu General Airport, a comprehensive general aviation industrial park integrating manufacturing, operation, service, and exhibition is also planned.

The company headquarters (production and operation base) of Haiyi Aircraft is also in Yixing, and it is planned to achieve sales and delivery during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

The focus is on Wuxi Sunan Shuofang International Airport. In 2020, the passenger throughput will be close to 6 million, and the status of Jiangsu's second largest airport is solid.

Finding out, Wuxi has a complete aviation industry chain, including airports, airlines, aircraft manufacturing, and industrial parks, step by step. Wuxi has already laid a strong enough foundation for the level of urban traffic, and the future will be limitless.

Now that Wuxi has its own airline, it has more autonomy in choosing routes, which can give full play to the leading role of the airport, better serve local economic development, and help Wuxi integrate into the domestic and international "dual cycle" development pattern.

Sunan Ruili Airlines has stated that it will introduce aircraft that fly farther in the future, flying directly from Wuxi to Cambodia's Westport Special Zone and other "Belt and Road" regions to meet the needs of more local companies to "go global" for investment.

It can be seen that, for Wuxi, local airlines not only enhance the image of the city, but also provide an excellent fulcrum for the city to enter the aviation industry, vigorously expand the hub economy, and better integrate into the national strategy.

On 3 September 2021, the "Wuxi=Xiamen" route operated by Ruili Airlines opened. Prior to this, new routes were opened from Wuxi to Shenzhen, to Chongqing, to Mangshi, and to Tongren. In the future, the transportation capacity will be tilted to high-yield areas, the routes will be greatly optimized and improved, and the capacity investment in the east and southwest markets will be increased.

Ruili Airlines, which has taken root in Wuxi, is bound to "resonate with the same frequency" as the city's development thinking. It will become more and more closely connected with the city of Wuxi, and its awareness of serving the city will continue to increase and its capabilities will continue to improve.

According to reports, the company plans to develop its fleet of 45 aircraft in the next five years. It will target the development model of "local airlines + hub airports" in domestic first-class cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and build Sunan Ruili Airlines into the core base of Sunan Shuofang Airport. On the company operations, it is implementing the "two main (Wuxi, Kunming) and multiple auxiliary (Shenyang, Mangshi, Nanjing, Xuzhou, Lianyungang, etc.) base operating models, and build the entire local aviation industry chain for passenger transportation, cargo, and aircraft maintenance." "Sunan Ruili + Sunan Shuofang" promotes the economic development of Wuxi hub at a high level, and is more deeply integrated into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

While optimizing and improving the airline network, a series of layouts around the development of aviation industry clusters have been launched across the board.

At the unveiling ceremony, "4+1" industrial cooperation projects were signed simultaneously. In the next three years, the total investment involved is nearly 10 billion yuan, and more than 2,000 aviation-related jobs will be added. The models with the best cost performance and the best quality will be introduced to meet the development needs of Sunan Ruili Airlines' main base in Wuxi.

In addition, it is planned to introduce an aircraft maintenance engineering technology company and an aviation material support center in the high-tech zone, which can provide maintenance services such as scheduled inspection, overhaul and lease-back inspection for Sunan Ruili Airlines and other airlines' aircraft.

The contract also introduced a flight training center project for aviation pilot training and flight attendants and other professional training, as well as aviation science popularization and flight experience functions.

The Municipal Transportation Group also jointly invested in Jiangsu Guopeng Aviation Fund with Wuxi High-tech Zone, China CITIC Bank and China Everbright Bank.

On the basis of cooperation in these projects, the Municipal Transportation Group will further deepen cooperation with well-known aviation companies in the aviation industry chain, and strengthen and expand the aviation industry cluster in Wuxi.
