Virgin Australia plans to restore 100% of its capacity by the end of the year, and will reactivate multiple aircraft and 220 flight attendants at the same time.
Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said that by mid-June, the capacity plan will be restored to 80% and 100% will be restored by the end of the year. She said that Australia's aviation demand has soared, and Australians are increasingly eager to resume travel.
Hrdlicka said that 220 flight attendants will be reactivated and 150 will be recruited at the same time.
Virgin Australia plans to reactivate 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft to meet the expected increase in domestic travel. From now to June, Virgin Qantas will add more than 220 round-trip flights every week.
Hrdlicka called on the Australian government to begin opening its borders to countries with a high rate of vaccination. Earlier, Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt said that even if all Australia is vaccinated, the international border may not be reopened.
