South Korean airlines' passenger numbers dip drastically in March 2020

According to the Korea Aviation Information System Portal and the Korea Civil Aviation Association (KCA) on 1 April 2020, affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the passenger number of domestic and international routes in South Korea was only 174,3583  in March, the lowest since the relevant statistics began record in 1997.

Relevant persons from KCA said that the above data are only real-time statistical standards, and the final data has not been officially released yet but the overall trend is not expected to change.

In January 2020, passenger traffic on domestic and foreign routes was 1060,2925, which was reduced by 68.3% in March.

It is worth noting that in March 2020, the total number of passengers on Korean Air’s domestic and international routes was only 37.8588 million, which was overtaken by Asiana Airlines for the first time.
