According to the Mongolian news web-site Gogo, the OIC Emergency Headquarters held a press conference on 2 April 2020. D.Battur, Director of MIAT, a state-owned joint stock company, provided the following information at the press conference:

"To date, 1173 people have been transported from Mongolia and 983 to Mongolia on six special flights. We have always operated special dawn flights at our own expense. The situation of our company is very difficult. Globally, the tourism and air transport sectors have been the first to face difficulties. Therefore, major airlines are close to declaring bankruptcy. In the first quarter of this year, we planned to earn 90 billion MNT, but we achieved about 40 billion MNT and lost 50 billion MNT.

During the flight, remote thermometers, changing masks every two hours depending on the number of seats, and hand sanitizers are installed, and all doors and seats are disinfected with 75 percent pure alcohol. These were additional costs. Air conditioners are usually replaced every few years. But now it changes every flight. It is very expensive. A transfer of MNT 44 billion is expected to be paid under a lease agreement. We appealed to all our foreign and domestic partners for support. As for the international situation, there is a shortage of freight. Therefore, we offered to look for contract jobs and participate in the tenders..... It's time for the government to support the national carrier. "

Director D. Battur says MIAT Mongolian Airlines does not receive subsidies from the state budget. He also emphasized that he operates with his own income.
