Vietjet Air expands fleet and routes, welcoming 200 millionth passenger in the third quarter

According to VNA, as of the first three quarters of 2024, Vietjet Air Joint Stock Company (Vietjet) has been operating stably in the domestic market of Vietnam while actively expanding international routes to meet the travel needs of passengers and has achieved positive operating results.

In the first three quarters of 2024, Vietjet's passenger volume exceeded 19.6 million and the number of flights was 104,000, an increase of more than 6% and 2% year-on-year respectively; among them, international passengers exceeded 2.54 million, an increase of 9.1% year-on-year. At present, Vietjet's fleet size has reached 85 aircraft, with an average load factor of 87% and technical reliability of 99.7%. The cargo volume was 88,964 tons, an increase of 73% year-on-year, accounting for more than 10% of the total cargo volume of Vietnamese airlines.

As of the third quarter of 2024, Vietjet has opened 155 routes, including 43 domestic routes and 112 international routes.

Vietjet has launched new direct flights from Danang to Ahmedabad, India, from Xi'an Xianyang to Ho Chi Minh City, and increased direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Perth as well as flights to airports in South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong, China.

In the third quarter of 2024, Vietjet welcomed its 200 millionth passenger, a milestone in the airline's development journey.

In the first three quarters of 2024, Vietjet's aviation and consolidated revenues reached VND51.7 trillion and VND52.2 trillion, respectively, up 32% and 19% year-on-year. Sole and consolidated profit after tax were VND113.4 billion and VND140.5 billion, up 884% and 564% year-on-year, respectively.

As of 30 September 2024, Vietjet's total assets were close to VND94 trillion, and nearly VND556.5 billion was paid to the state treasury.

Vietjet continues to consolidate its leading position in promoting economic, trade and tourism development, while becoming a trusted strategic partner of renowned global institutions.
