At 5.50 pm on 28 July 2024, China Eastern flight MU7363 carrying 146 passengers flew from Yantai Penglai International Airport to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysia, marking the official launch of Yantai's first international passenger route directly to KLIA - the Yantai-KLIA route.
At 11.43 pm, the inaugural flight arrived in KLIA smoothly. At 7.30 am on 29 July 2024, the return flight MU7364 with 149 passengers landed smoothly at Yantai Penglai International Airport. Early that morning, leaders of Yantai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, China Eastern Airlines, Yantai Airport, Airport Customs, Airport Public Security and other units waited on the apron for the return of the flight, presented flowers to the inaugural crew, and celebrated this historic moment together.
China Eastern flies to KLIA from Yantai with A320neo aircraft twice weekly. According to schedules, the outbound MU7363 takes off from Yantai at 5.50 pm on Wednesdays and Sundays and arrives in KLIA at 12.20 am the next day; the return MU7364 departs from KLIA at 1.20 am on Mondays and Thursdays and arrives in Yantai at 7.50 am local time. To meet market demand, China Eastern plans to add one more Yantai-KLIA flight per week in September.
China Eastern has opened 4 international and regional routes from Yantai, namely Yantai-Incheon, Yantai-Changsha-Changi, Yantai-Linyi-Hong Kong, and Yantai-KLIA, and will launch Yantai-Suvarnabhumi and Taiyuan-Yantai-Nagoya Chubu routes in September 2024 to meet passengers' needs for Japan-South Korea routes and "Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand" visa-free golden travel.
