Cathay Pacific is the first airline in the world to offer OmniPork, a pork substitute made from plants, to its passengers. In the traditional recipe of using pork, the dishes made with OmniPork instead of pork are still delicious.
Cathay Pacific is committed to creating a future dining experience, working with local social enterprise Green Monday to develop new meal options for vegetarians, flexible vegetarians and even meat lovers on its flights.
OmniPork is made from whole plant raw materials, including peas, non-GMO soybeans, mushrooms and rice, and looks and tastes like pork. However unlike pork, it is cholesterol-free with 86 per cent reduction in saturated fat and 66 per cent reduction in calories. There is no animal cruelty in the process of manufacturing the pork substitute.
Throughout October 2019, Cathay Pacific Airways Business Class passengers from all of Hong Kong's long-haul flights will enjoy the OmniPork Spaghetti Garganelli pasta. Cathay Pacific will review passenger feedback and continue the OmniPork food trial.
