Air Astana, which received its first Airbus A321LR aircraft in September 2019, plans to deploy the aircraft on routes to Southeast Asia (Suvarnabhumi, Ho Chi Minh City and KLIA) and Beijing Capital. These destinations are currently served by the Kazakhstan airline's B757-200 jets.
The first A321LR aircraft is currently deployed on the route from Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana) to Moscow.
Air Astana aims to receive its second A321LR by end of October 2019 and four A321LR jets by June 2020. It has a lease order of seven A321LR from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
The new A321LR fleet will launch Air Astana's future routes to Singapore and Pudong. Other possible destinations include Prague, Jeddah and Medina.
Air Astana is the first Central Asia operator of A321LR, the longer version of the A321neo aircraft.
Aircraft-spotters in Singapore would be overjoyed to look out for Changi Airport's first A321LR operator, Air Astana, in 2020. The future launch of Air Astana's flight to Changi will fill the void of a Central Asia flight link after Uzbekistan Airways withdrew flights to Singapore from Tashkent in 2019.
