Guangxi Beibu Gulf Airlines, known in short as GX Airlines, launches scheduled flights to Wanzhou and Yinchuan from Changsha using its Embraer E190 regional jet on 9 February 2018 to meet travel demand.
On 9 February 2018, GX Airlines flight GX8925 departs from Changsha for Wanzhou at 8.20 am, arrives in Wanzhou at 9.50 am before departing for Yinchuan at 10.30 am and arriving in Yinchuan at 12.10 pm under flight GX8925.
At 1.05 pm, flight GX8926 takes off from Yinchuan for Wanzhou, transits in Wanzhou at 2.45 pm for Wanzhou-bound passengers to alight before leaving Wanzhou for Changsha at 3.25 pm and touching down in Changsha at 4.40 pm.
Flights are operated on Fridays, Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays and drastically reduce travel time as normally travellers need to travel by indirect transport services from Changsha to Wanzhou and Yinchuan before the flights started. There are no bullet train services to Wanzhou and Yinchuan from Changsha.
Other than the new domestic flights, GX Airlines plans to launch scheduled flights from Nanning to many cities in Southeast Asia including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila. It has a fleet of 15 Embraer E190 and 6 A320-200 jets.
GX Airlines has deferred plans to launch its first regional flight to Hong Kong due to competition from Cathay Dragon.
