Vietnam Airlines ends flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Chu Lai, the capital of the central Vietnam province of Quang Nam on 19 May 2015.
The Ho Chi Minh City-Chu Lai route will be taken over by low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific, of which Vietnam Airlines holds a stake of nearly 69 per cent.
On this route, Jetstar will operate three flights per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with A320 aircraft.
Passengers who already confirmed bookings with Vietnam Airlines, or its subsidiary Vietnam Air Service Company (VASCO), for flights on and after 19 May can ask for refunds.
Alternatively, affected passengers can switch to flights operated by either Vietnam Airlines or Jetstar Pacific between Ho Chi Minh City and Danang, Hue and the town of Quy Nhon, which are near Chu Lai, without paying extra fees.
On 30 March 2015, Vietnam Airlines cut its route between Ho Chi Minh City and the town of Tuy Hoa in central Vietnam, which was also taken over by Jetstar Pacific.
