On 5 August 2025, Alaska Airlines unveiled a new livery for its 787-9 Dreamliners. The livery retains the iconic custom "Alaska" font but replaces the Eskimo image with a streamlined motif representing the Northern Lights.

The livery will be applied to all Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners within the Alaska Air Group (including Hawaiian Airlines). This means Hawaiian Airlines' existing Boeing 787s will be repainted as part of the rebranding.

The aircraft featuring the Northern Lights livery are a key part of Alaska Airlines' aggressive expansion into the international long-haul market, aiming to establish its home hub, Seattle-Tacoma, as a global gateway.

The new livery is slated to debut in January 2026, and all Boeing 787-9s in Alaska Airlines' fleet will be painted in the new livery by next spring.
