JATA Tourism Expo 2024 opens at Tokyo Big Sight on 26 September 2024

25 airlines are exhibiting at JATA Tourism Expo this year.

1,200 exhibitors at JATA Tourism Expo 2024

Over 1,200 exhibitors from 80 countries and regions overseas and 47 prefectures across Japan are exhibiting their products and services at JATA Tourism Expo 2024 (known also as TEJ 2024). 

Debut airline exhibitors of TEJ 2024 include Aero Mongolia, Hunnu Air, WestJet, Iberia, AirAsia Philippines, Batik Air Malaysia, Hainan Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines.

Tigerair Taiwan launches flight to Miyazaki on 26 November 2024


Regular JATA Tourism Expo exhibitor Tigerair Taiwan (R-092) announces its 20th Japanese airport destination at JATA Tourism Expo 2024 as it celebrates 10 years of flight operations.

On 26 November 2024, Tigerair Taiwan flight IT742 departs from Taoyuan for Miyazaki at 6.30 am, touches down in Miyazaki at 9.20 am before leaving Miyazaki for Taoyuan at 10.10 am and landing in Taoyuan at 12 pm under flight IT743.

Tigerair Taiwan flies to Miyazaki from Taoyuan on Tuesdays.

Aero Mongolia debuts at JATA Tourism Expo, plans Kansai flight launch 


Aero Mongolia (R-150), the second airline of Mongolia, exhibits for the first time at JATA Tourism Expo from 26 September to 29 September 2024.

The Mongolian airline currently has scheduled flights from Chinggis Khaan International Airport (Chinggis Khaan, UBN), the international gateway to Ulaanbaatar, to destinations including Narita and Incheon. It is planning to launch a new route to Osaka Kansai from UBN I  2025 but the flight schedules are unconfirmed.

Aero Mongolia says it currently is not operating flights to Hanoi and that in a month's time its physical Tokyo office will open to handle ticketing enquiries.


The airline has the overseas branch office in Seoul, which is indicated on its flight schedules distributed only at JATA Tourism Expo 2025 until 29 September 2024 and in Mongolia.

MIAT Mongolian Airlines plans Ulaanbaatar-Changi-Sydney flight by end of year 2025


MIAT Mongolian Airlines (exhibitor R-150) plans to begin all-year-round scheduled flight from Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN), the international gateway to Ulaanbaatar, to Sydney via Changi by end of year 2025., initially with its solo  Boeing B767-300ER to test the market demand of Mongolians, SIngaporeans and Australians. Hunnu Air plans Kobe flight launch in 2025


Hunnu Air (co-exhibitor under Mongolia Tourism) plans to commence charter scheduled flight to Kobe Airport, Osaka, in 2025. Pamphlets are distributed. For more information, please click here.

Iberia resumes flight to Narita from Madrid on 27 October 2024


Spanish national airline Iberia, co-exhibitor with the Tourist Office of Spain (R-065), resumes long-haul direct scheduled flight from Madrid to Narita on 27 October 2024, operating three times a week.

According to schedules, Iberia flight IB281 departs from Madrid for Narita at 12.20 pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, touches down in Narita at 9.45 am before leaving Narita for Madrid at 11.35 am on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arriving in Madrid at 8.25 pm under flight IB282.

On Sundays, IB281 leaves Madrid for Narita at 12.35 pm and touches down in Madrid at 9.45 am.

Flight timings and frequencies above are subject to updates.

To market the flight resumption awareness to Narita, Iberia only displays the inaugural flight poster for the first time at JATA Tourism Expo 2024 held at Tokyo Big Sight, Ariake. Nothing is distributed.

Batik Air Malaysia launches flight from Kota Bharu to Subang on 21 October 2024


Batik Air Malaysia (R-192), distributing its brand Batik Air stickers for the first time at JATA Tourism Expo this year, announces it is launching domestic flight from Kota Bharu to Subang on 21 October 2024.

On 21 October 2024, Batik Air Malaysia flight OD1235 takes off from Kota Bharu for Subang at 4.15 pm, touches down in Subang at 5.20 pm before leaving Subang for Kota Bharu  at 6 pm and arriving in Kota Bharu at 7.05 pm under flight OD1236.

Batik Air Malaysia flies to Subang daily.

Ethiopian Airlines adds flight frequency to its Guangzhou route from 28 September 2024


The latest news from Ethiopian Airlines (R-056) is that from 28 September 2024, the Guangzhou-Addis Ababa route will increase to ten flights per week.

The newly added flights are ET616, which departs from Addis Ababa at 12.30 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and arrives in Guangzhou at 3.05 am the next day; ET617 departs from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) at 5.15 am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and arrives in Addis Ababa at 11.05 am, all local time.

Ethiopian Airlines' booth only broadcasts the airline video. The booth personnel is not present. Nothing is distributed.

Hainan Airlines launches flight to Vladivostok on 20 October 2024


Hainan Airlines, co-exhibitor under China Pavilion (R-166), launches flight from Beijing Capital to Vladivostok on 20 October 2024.

On 20 October 2024, Hainan Airlines flight HU405 departs from Beijing Capital for Vladivostok at 6.25 am, touches down in Vladivostok at 10.55 am before leaving Vladivostok for Beijing Capital at 12.20 pm and arriving in Beijing Capital at 1.10 pm under flight HU406.

Hainan Airlines flies to Vladivostok on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with its B737-800 aircraft.

Scoot gives away free tickets and goods at JATA Tourism Expo 2024


Scoot (above image), Singapore Airlines Group's LCC, is running a no-lise lottery at JATA Tourism Expo 2024. Each raffle ticket has the name of a city, and participants are asked to find the country that the city belongs to on a map.

Those who give the right answer will have a chance to receive free Scoot flight tickets and goods! The Scoot cabin crew will give visitors a tour of the booth while the airline's Marketing Director from the headquarters is also at the booth at times of the day.

There were 119 applications for the 8th Japan Tourism Awards this time, 105 in the domestic/inbound Japan category and 14 in the overseas category.

The organizers received many excellent applications from both Japan and overseas.
In addition to focusing on a sustainable tourism industry, many of the winning initiatives were seen as contributing to the maintenance and development of local industries through the power of "tourism."

The award ceremony is held on Thursday, 26 September 2024, following the opening ceremony of JATA Tourism Expo 2024.

JATA Tourism Expo 2024 marks Japan-US Tourism Exchange Year

This year is the Japan-US Tourism Exchange Year, and tourist destinations from all over the United States are introducing their latest tourism information and travel packages related to sports tourism such as MLB.

The themes of the booths include adventure tourism and experiencing Japan nature, cultures

The organizers of JATA Tourism Expo 2024 are holding a "Let's Travel Europe! Stamp Rally" project that transcends the boundaries of booths from European countries

There is a wide selection of booths for the much-talked-about "adventure tourism" where visitors can deeply experience and feel the essence of Japan through "nature," "activities," and "cultural experiences".

There are stages that will make visitors want to go on a trip right away, such as performances that convey the traditions and history of Japan and around the world, and a talk event with special supporter Tomoko Yamaguchi.

Promoting 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and the host city of JATA Tourism Expo 2025

Tourism representatives of Osaka are promoting the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Local governments and tourism organizations from Aichi Prefecture, the host city of JATA Tourism Expo Japan 2025, will be exhibiting and promoting Nagoya's attractions.

JATA Tourism Expo 2025 is held in Aichi Sky Expo


The next edition of JATA Tourism Expo is held in Aichi Sky Expo (above), which is located in front of  Nagoya (Chubu) Centrair International Airport Terminal 2, Aichi Prefecture in September 2025.


The organizers have started accepting applications for exhibitors for JATA Tourism Expo 2025 (TEJ 2025), which will be held at Aichi Sky Expo (Aichi International Exhibition Center) for four days from Thursday, 25 September 2025 to Sunday, 28 September 2025. 

Holding TEJ 2025 in Aichi/Chubu Hokuriku aims to increase awareness of Aichi and Chubu Hokuriku both domestically and internationally, discover and promote tourism content, and contribute to the development of the local economy and Aichi Prefecture society.
