At 1.53 am on 19 March 2024, Hainan Airlines' Chongqing-Milan direct flight HU427 took off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, marking the official opening of the first direct route from western China to Milan, Italy. This is the fourth direct international route to Europe opened by Hainan Airlines in Chongqing, following the Chongqing-Rome, Chongqing-Madrid and Chongqing-Paris international routes. The opening of the Chongqing-Milan international route will provide more convenient travel services for passengers from China and Italy.
In the afternoon of 18 March 2024, Hainan Airlines and Chongqing Airport Group held a flight opening ceremony at the T2 terminal of Jiangbei Airport. Staff from Hainan Airlines Chongqing Branch and Sales Department presented aircraft models, conversion sockets, packing tapes and other Hainan Airlines special gifts to passengers and representatives to celebrate the successful launch of the Chongqing-Milan route.
The Chongqing-Milan route will operate two round-trip flights per week starting from 19 March 2024, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The outbound flight is scheduled to take off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 2 am Beijing time and arrive in Milan at 6.45 am local time. The flight time is about 11 hours 45 minutes while the return flight is scheduled to take off at 11.15 am in Milan, and arrive at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 5 am the next day, the flight time is about 10 hours 45 minutes.
