225 million passengers, more than 900 routes, more than 400 reserved orders. Airbus celebrates a milestone moment in the delivery of 500 A350s by the end of September 2022 with the delivery of a brand new A350 to Iberia. The A350 family of aircraft is soaring and flying to every corner of the world.

A growing and versatile family

The A350-900 was delivered to Iberia recently, and this important customer from Europe has ordered a total of 20 A350s, 14 of which are already in operation. The delivery of the 500th A350 marks an important milestone for Airbus and its growing family of multi-role aircraft. Today, the A350 family of aircraft includes the A350-900, A350-1000 and the new A350F freighter. Compared to the previous generation aircraft, the A350 offers better performance with 25% lower fuel consumption and CO2, and a 50% lower noise footprint. Eight years into operation, the A350 family continues to attract more operators due to its extreme versatility (up to 9,700 nautical miles/18,000 km) and efficiency levels.

"When we designed the A350 and delivered the first aircraft, we were very proud to have a truly new, advanced aircraft that not only delivers outstanding performance and economics, but also makes a significant contribution to the decarbonization of aviation, we also provide passengers with excellent space, comfort and a quiet cabin environment. The A350 is providing our customers with a versatile platform to support their strategic choices in the face of increasingly complex environments." Philippe Mhun, Executive Vice President, for Airbus Aircraft Projects and Services, said.

A350 new production standard unveiled

The delivery of the 500th A350 also marks the unveiling of a new production standard for 2022. This standard brings additional performance and cabin improvements to the A350-900 and A350-1000. Compared with the previous standard, the new production standard can reduce the weight by up to 1.2 tons by optimizing the system and structure, and continuing to increase the use of advanced materials (currently accounting for more than 70%). Maximum takeoff weight has also increased by 3 tons, allowing each model to maintain its maximum range capability (over 8,000 nautical miles) while increasing payload. The cabin of the new standard is more spacious, and the increase in cabin space gives the airline the flexibility to add more than 30 seats in a typical three-class cabin layout.

Meet the operator's sustainable development goals

These improvements provide operators with greater profitability and flexibility, while offering passengers more space and comfort in a quieter cabin in its class. It also prepares the A350 platform for future trends, including decarbonization solutions, a key driver for operators. As part of a joint effort to lead the aerospace industry's journey to decarbonize, airlines around the world have chosen the A350 to meet their environmental goals

Up to now, Airbus A350 series aircraft have been delivered to 39 airlines, flying more than 900 routes around the world.
