Akasa Air, an Indian private airline, launches scheduled flight from Kozhikode to Jeddah on 13 March 2026.

On 13 March 2026, according to schedules, Akasa Air flight QP596 departs from Kozhikode for Jeddah at 6.55 pm, touches down in Jeddah at 11.50 pm before leaving Jeddah for Kozhikode at 9.10 am under flight QP597 and landing in Kozhikode at 5.30 pm.

Akasa Air flies between both cities daily with its 737 MAX 8 (B738-8) aircraft.

Kozhikode is also known as Calicut, a city along the Malabar Coast in the state of Kerala in India that was visited by the fleet of Admiral Cheng Ho, and the home to calico, a fine hand-cotton fabric export of Calicut.

Ma Huan (1403), a Chinese sailor accompanying Cheng Ho, lauds Kozhikode as a great emporium of trade frequented by merchants from around the world. He notes the 30 mosques built to cater to the religious needs of the Muslims in the city, the unique system of calculation by the merchants using their fingers and toes and the matrilineal system of succession.
