No more free meals in Economy Class of Virgin Australia

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

According to 9news in Australia, Virgin Australia has cancelled the free meal service in Economy Class from 25 March 2021, and passengers must pay for the meals if they want to eat.

Virgin Australia still provides free tea and coffee onboard.

Virgin Australia was severely hit by the covid pandemic. In September 2020, the company was acquired by the American investment company Bain Capital.

The incoming CEO Jayne Hrdlicka plans to build Virgin Australia as a "mid-market airline" with a three-class cabin layout: business class, high-end economy class (economy X) and economy class. This move will position Virgin Australia between the high-end service company Qantas and the low-cost airline Jetstar.
