West Air receives its first A319neo

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA   Image : Web Screenshot

West Air, a subsidiary of HNA Aviation Group, has received its first A319neo, which is also the first Airbus single-aisle aircraft equipped with a distributed pulse oxygen supply system (DPOS).

The distributed pulse oxygen supply system (DPOS) is located in the passenger service panel above the seat and in the toilet. The oxygen flow provided to passengers will be adjusted in real time according to the negative pressure of the mask during breathing. Compared with the centralized gaseous oxygen system (CGOS) composed of several large oxygen tanks located in the cargo hold, DPOS does not require traditional pipes and cylinder racks, does not occupy cargo hold space, and the system is more streamlined and has lower maintenance costs. In the future, DPOS will also support the high-altitude operation of the A320neo.

The A319neo of West Air is powered by the Leap-1A engine of CFM International. In the two-class cabin layout, the A319neo has a total of 18 Economy Class seats and 126 Economy Class seats.

West Air is based in Chongqing, Zhengzhou and Hefei, and operates more than 170 routes to nearly 60 cities. West Air operates an all-Airbus single-aisle fleet, with 44 A320 family aircraft including A319, A320, A320neo, A321 and A321neo. The high-performance A319neo will be used to operate West Air's high-altitude routes such as Chongqing to Lhasa.

The Airbus A319neo is a member of the A320neo family of aircraft. Thanks to the application of new-generation engines and sharklet wings, the A319neo's noise footprint can be reduced by 50%, and fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be reduced by at least 20% compared to the previous generation of single-aisle aircraft. At the same time, the wider cabin in the single-aisle aircraft provides better comfort for passengers. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A320 family of aircraft can fly on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with a blend ratio of up to 50%. Airbus aims to achieve 100% SAF fuel for all aircraft products by 2030.

To date, more than 140 customers around the world have ordered more than 11,000 A320neo series aircraft.
