Nauru Airlines' first B737-700 begins maiden flight for Brisbane on 19 March 2022

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA / Image credit: Michael Chambers, Gareth Ruhe Aviation Photography

Nauru Airlines is resuming its commercial passenger flight to Brisbane from Nauru with its new livery aircraft registered VH-INU, its first B737-700, on 19 March 2022. The flight departs from Nauru for Brisbane at 5.50 pm and is expected to touch down in Brisbane at 8.25 pm according to FlightRadar24 on Saturday (19 March).

VH-INU spots Nauru's national flag colours and the country's famous 12-pointed star representing the Nauruan tribes and people on its livery. Along the aircraft body, the waves symbolize the Pacific Ocean and reflect the airline's historic ability to connect the smaller countries of the Pacific with Australia and beyond. The new livery was unveiled in the Australian city of Townsville by Lionel Aingimea, the Nauruan President, on 9 March 2022.

The new livery will soon don the rest of Nauru Airlines' fleet as part of the airline's fleet renewal programme.

Nauru Airlines describes herself as The Airline of the Central Pacific. Formerly known as Air Nauru, it states that the airline purchased the B737-700 outright and took delivery of the aircraft in July 2021. However, induction, certification and registration procedures delayed the aircraft entry into the Nauru Airlines fleet, which comprises four Boeing B737-300 jets, two for passenger and two for cargo operations.

According to Simple Flying, VH-INU was secured by the Government of Nauru in a long-term $25 million loan from Taiwan's Export-Import Bank.

Nauru Airlines operates scheduled flights to Brisbane, Nadi, Tarawa and Apia from Nauru.

AirJapan to take off in 2023

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA / Image courtesy : ANA

ANA Holdings and Air Japan Co., Ltd. have unveiled "AirJapan", a new airline brand for medium-haul international routes.

In fall 2020, ANA Group announced a new airline brand as part of the transformation of its business model to pursue sustainable growth and the ability to quickly respond to a wide range of customer preferences. They  are excited to announce that the brand name, logo, and aircraft design have now been finalized, and preparations are underway to prepare for its launch in the second half of FY2023.

The exact routes and specific dates of AirJapan's scheduled first flight is still under consideration as ANA is closely monitoring trends in the recovery of demand for international flights.

Brand concept
The brand philosophy can be summed up in the phrase "Fly Thoughtful", which expresses the airline's caring, thoughtful and gentle approach. As an airline that is friendly and caring to all, AirJapan aims to create a completely new kind of air travel experience based on both Japanese ideas and a commitment to quality.

Brand logo, colors, and aircraft design
The brand name "AirJapan" was selected in order to convey to people around the world that AirJapan is a Japanese airline, and to remind customers that its crew offer "Japanese Quality" in all that they do.

The logo is based on the "(Ai)r" and "J(apan)" featured in the brand name, and is inspired by the image of a kind and thoughtful hand-to-hand interaction.

The brand's colour is a combination of the traditional Japanese colors "Ai (indigo)" and "Akebono (sunrise)". The indigo color expresses the skills and careful technique involved in the traditional Japanese art of indigo dyeing, a complex process which requires "Trust & Thoughtfulness" from the artisan. The sunrise color was inspired by the spring season of Japan and represents comfortable warmth to demonstrate our commitment to "Comfort & Care".

The trademark application for the "AirJapan" company logo has been filed as well.
